Tucson family finds solace as U.S. takes action against cartels | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Department of Homeland Security has released a video featuring the parents of Nicholas Quets, a former Marine from Tucson, who was killed by cartel bandits during a trip to Rocky Point. The video, shared the day after Memorial Day, serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat drug cartels following his tragic death.

“We feel very honored that this President cares about us and our son and is letting his legacy move on,” said Lt. Colonel Warren Quets Jr.

In the video message, Warren Quets and his wife Patricia express their grief but also convey a sense of encouragement. They are hopeful that their son’s death has sparked a mission by the Trump administration to dismantle Mexico’s drug cartels.

“President has allowed my family to have input on several of the actions that have already occurred… and we like to think that Nick is the lead to change right now,” said Quets.

The loss of Nicholas Quets has devastated his family, but they now find solace in the hope that the current actions at the border will prevent other families from experiencing similar tragedies.

“This didn’t have to occur, and now for many Americans we take it for granted that we have a secure border again…we take it for granted that the message that targeting U.S. citizens either at home or abroad is no longer acceptable and comes with severe consequences,” said Quets.

On his first day in office, Donald Trump signed an executive order designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. Sanctions have been announced against the Sinaloa Cartel to halt their money-moving operations.
