Celebrate Tucson fathers at 30th anniversary gala on May 31 | Local News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The 30th anniversary of the Father’s Day Council Tucson Gala is set for Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

For three decades, the Father’s Day Council Tucson has celebrated fathers whose achievements and values enhance the meaning of Father’s Day for their families and the community.

This year’s honorees include Dr. Eric Cornidez, Managing Partner at the Pain Institute of Southern Arizona, Tommy Lloyd, Head Basketball Coach at the University of Arizona, Jim Tofel, Managing Member at Tofel Dent Construction, and Kaukaha Watanabe, Team Lead at eXp Realty.

The gala will feature a dinner, an online auction with items like luxury sports suites and travel adventures, and the presence of outstanding honorees. The auction is accessible online, allowing anyone to participate without attending the event.

All proceeds will support the Father’s Day Council Tucson Endowed Chair for Type 1 Diabetes research and the Angel Wing for Children with Diabetes at the Steele Children’s Research Center, directed by Fayez K. Ghishan, MD. The event has raised over $5 million for diabetes research thanks to community support through sponsorships, donations, and ticket purchases.
