Teen attacker in Preston Lord case sentenced to 17 years in prison



In March, William Owen Hines pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge.

ARIZONA, USA — One of Preston Lord’s attackers learned his sentence today. 

Now-19-year-old William Owen Hines admitted to kicking Lord during the attack at the Halloween party in Queen Creek the night Lord was killed. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison for manslaughter.

He was also sentenced to five years in prison for aggravated assault. The prison terms will run consecutively, meaning he will spend 17 years in prison.

In March, Hines pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge. He was facing 10.5 to 21 years in prison. Hines apologized to Lord’s family after pleading guilty.
