Tucson Roadrunners ready for first-round playoff series vs. Abbotsford, team hosting several watch parties | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Roadrunners begin their quest for the Calder Cup this week!

Tucson will play postseason hockey for the third straight season. The team is trying to do something it hasn’t done in the past two seasons: advance past the first round.

To do that, the 7-seed Roadrunners will have to beat the 2-seed Abbotsford Canucks in Canada. 

These teams are quite familiar with each other this season. The Roadrunners went 5-3 against the Canucks during the regular season, 3-1 at the Abbotsford Centre. 

They clinched the final spot in the playoffs with a 7-4 win over the Colorado Eagles in the regular season finale. 

Game one of the three-game series is Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tucson time.

Each watch party will kick off right before puck drop and feature live game broadcasts, delicious food and drinks, and prize giveaways—including Roadrunners jerseys, autographed sticks, and more. Roadrunners mascot Dusty will also be making special appearances at each location to bring even more playoff fun to the party.
