Family says Alabama man attacked with hatchet in downtown Tucson has died | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — Shortly after a Thursday night prayer the family of a man allegedly attacked with a hatchet confirms he has died.

Tucson Police say Jacob Couch, 32, of Alabama was hit in the neck by another man named Daniel Michael at a downtown Tucson bus stop on April 5, 2025.

Court documents reveal the attack was caught on video, and the hatchet was found at Michael’s home. He reportedly confessed when shown the footage.

Up until Jacob’s death, his wife Kristin says Jacob has not been on full life support saying he showed signs of brain activity, despite doctors saying otherwise.

Jacob’s death announcement comes almost an hour after a prayer gathering for him wrapped up across the main entrance of Banner University Medical Center, the hospital where he had been fighting for his life.

We will continue to follow this story as we learn more.
