Arizona Democrats hold town hall

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Arizona Democrats hosted a “People’s Town Hall” in Tucson, bringing residents together to discuss pressing community issues.

Senators Cory Booker and Mark Kelly were in attendance, alongside Mayor Regina Romero and other local leaders. The event primarily focused on concerns over potential federal healthcare cuts.

Despite assurances from the White House that President Trump will not cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid, Democratic leaders at the town hall expressed ongoing concerns about the future of these programs.

“It’s really focusing on people and focusing on their concerns and the extraordinary challenges we’re seeing as a result of the decisions that this president is making and the lack of action unfortunately by a lot of Republicans in Congress who we know agree with us on so many of these issues unfortunately right now they’re not stepping up to,” said an attendee.

They added, “Defend Medicaid, to defend food stamps and other critical services that they seem to be cutting in order to give tax cuts to the wealthiest amongst us who really don’t need our help. They’re doing just fine. What we really need to do is defend the programs that folks are relying on for their economic security and well-being.”
