Heard Museum announces new programming for Valley families | Things To Do

The Heard Museum is bringing even more fun, creativity, and culture to visitors in 2025 with a dynamic event schedule packed with activities for all ages. Families, art lovers, and the community can look forward to curator talks, live performances, and hands-on experiences designed to celebrate Indigenous art and traditions.

A highlight of the year’s programming is the expansion of Heardlings, the museum’s beloved family initiative launched in 2024. Young museum-goers will enjoy their very own activity room, an Art Cart brimming with creative surprises, and a special map to guide them through the museum’s treasures.

“We’re excited to expand our family programs at the Heard Museum, providing more opportunities for visitors of all ages to connect, learn, and engage with Indigenous art and culture,” said Lucia Leigh Laughlin, Director of Engagement & Learning Programs. “Intergenerational learning fosters meaningful connections, allowing families to share experiences, stories, and traditions that deepen their understanding of Indigenous art and culture.”

Beyond its family programming, the museum will host a variety of community events, including First Fridays, curator talks, and special performances. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:

Upcoming Highlights:

  • Exhibition Opening: Experience six decades of artwork by Bob Haozous in “Bob Haozous—A Retrospective View” at the Free First Friday event (April 4).

  • Día del Niño Celebration (April 28): A vibrant day of Latiné art, music, and dance in collaboration with Cultural Coalition.

  • Free First Friday PRIDE (June 6): A lively celebration of Arizona Pride Month with a focus on the LGBTQ2S+ community through art and activities.

  • Free Family Summer Saturdays (June 21, July 19, Aug. 23): Enjoy interactive programs and special guests with the whole family.

  • First Friday Concert Series (May 2 and Sept. 5): A free evening of live performances and cultural celebrations.

With so much to explore, 2025 at the Heard Museum promises to be a year full of discovery and connection.
