TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — A convention held at Casino Del Sol was shut down prematurely due to reports of ongoing medical concerns.

The Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention was cancelled by the Tribal Medical Authority.

In a since deleted Facebook post from the Wild Wild West Steampunk Con’s Facebook page, multiple individuals at the hotel reported they were not feeling well. The post listed reported symptoms included stomach pain, nausea, vomiting’s and food aversion. They also recommended wearing masks.

That post was deleted.

Steampunk also made a statement in the comments of their first post alerting of the closure, which reads, “we are shutting down comments on this post as we cannot allow speculation or infighting to carry on! We will have further information when it is available.”

Multiple people from the event contacted News 4 Tucson searching for answers.

Israel Hoyer, a vender at the event, called News 4 Tucson to explain what he witnessed.

“They didn’t tell us anything and that was concerning. They just said it was a medical evacuation and that they had to get everyone out of the ballroom where the vendors were at and that they were shutting down the Hotel Casino where all the vendors and people were staying as well and that we all had to leave. We had two hours to break down everything and get out of the building,” shared Hoyer.
