MARANA, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Marana Police Department has been working closely with the Marana Unified School District and Marana Middle School to address online threats circulating among students and an anonymous individual on social media.
The police department is actively collaborating with the social media platform to identify the source of these posts. No further reports of suspicious activity related to this incident were received during Spring break, however, the investigation is ongoing, and the department continues to prioritize the safety of the community.
As students return from spring break, there will be an increased police presence at Marana Middle School on Monday.
The Marana Police Department and the school district urge families to discuss the dangers of social media with their children, including issues like cyberbullying and inappropriate content. Students are encouraged to report any concerning content to the police or school officials.
If concerning content or videos appear on social media, students and parents are asked not to share or repost them and instead report them to the appropriate authorities.
School safety concerns can be reported anonymously by calling or texting the School District’s Speak Up Safety Tip Line at (520) 518-4181. For non-emergencies, contact the Marana Police Department at 520-382-2000.
