The suspect, Brayan Machado Campos, allegedly fled into the woods near Cosnino after deputies found “suspected illegal substances” in the car he was in.
COSNINO, Ariz. — The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find a suspect who ran from a traffic stop after deputies found “suspected illegal substances” in the car he was in.
CCSO said deputies from the K9 unit pulled a car over on Interstate 40 near the town of Cosnino, east of Flagstaff, at about 10:52 a.m. on Sunday and seized the “suspected illegal substances.” Police did not specify exactly what was seized.

Two people were then taken into custody. Those people have been identified as Carlos Bojorquez Velazquez, 29, and Luis Chaidez Verduzco, 25.
However, there was a third man in the car who police were not able to take into custody as he ran into the woods south of the freeway. That man has been identified as 24-year-old Brayan Machado Campos.
CCSO deputies and law enforcement officers from several other agencies then began searching the woods for Campos but were unable to find him after several hours of searching. Deputies say Campos was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red shirt, a light black jacket and black Vans-style shoes.
Velazquez and Verduzco have been booked into the Coconino County Adult Detention Facility on charges of transporting narcotic drugs for sale.
Anyone with information on Campos’ whereabouts is asked to call CCSO at (928) 774-4523 or to call 911.
This is a developing story and more details will be added as they are made available.
