TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Arizona Women’s Basketball wrapped up the regular season with a 71-58 win over rival Arizona State.
The Wildcats advance to 19-10 overall and 10-8 in the Big 12.
Four Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Lauryn Swann’s 18 points. She knocked down a team-high six threes. As a team, the Wildcats made a season-high 15 triples.
Isis Beh scored 15 points, adding eight rebounds and three blocks in her fourth straight game in double-figures. Jada Williams added 13 points, including a pair of threes, while Paulina Paris chipped in nine points, five assists, and three steals.
Arizona and ASU went back and forth early, with seven lead changes and three ties in the first half. The Wildcats erased a one-point first-quarter deficit and took control in the second quarter, outscoring ASU 21-12 to enter halftime with a 37-29 lead.
Arizona broke the game open in the third quarter, using an 8-0 run to extend its lead to as many as 20 points.
ASU made a push in the fourth, cutting the deficit to 11 points late, but clutch threes from Swann and Williams helped Arizona seal the victory.
With the win, the Wildcats locked up the No. 8 seed and a first-round bye in the Big 12 Tournament. They’ll play the winner of 9-seed Colorado and 16-seed Houston Thursday Mar. 6 at 12:30 p.m. MST in Kansas City.
