Winter weather, rain headed to Arizona

PHOENIX — Winter isn’t done with Arizona just yet!

12News is issuing a Weather Impact Alert for Friday as parts of the Valley are expected to see rain and the High Country is expected to see snow. 

An active branch of the Pacific storm track will make a swing through Arizona through Friday with the main rain band moving through Friday morning. Snow levels in the High Country will start out around 7,000 feet Thursday evening dropping to as low as 5,500 feet by Friday night.

Rain showers will spread into central Arizona by late Thursday night, with areas of rain moving through the Valley Friday morning into the early afternoon hours. 

It’s certainly no drought-busting super-soaker of a storm system, but we should see enough in most areas to create some slick streets and give the desert vegetation a respite from our unusually dry weather this winter.

High pressure will quickly settle back into the region over the weekend bringing drier conditions and warming temperatures.

The Valley is starting to see some sprinkles.
