Wrong-way driver causes two cars to crash on I-17 in Phoenix, DPS says


Two cars collided on I-17 in Phoenix while trying to avoid a wrong-way driver early Sunday morning.

What we know:

It happened early in the morning on Feb. 9 near 19th Avenue.

Arizona DPS says the wrong-way driver tried to correct course, but that caused the two other drivers to hit each other.

“The wrong-way vehicle then went over the curb on the Buckeye off-ramp disabling the vehicle,” DPS said.

The woman driving the wrong way was not hit, but was arrested.

What we don’t know:

DPS said it’s unknown if impairment was a factor in the incident.
