The Pima County Sheriff’s Department seized two “severely neglected horses” from a Tucson-area property and took them to a rescue organization, “where they are now receiving proper care and rehabilitation.”
Criminal charges are pending, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Thursday.
Deputies found the two female horses on a property near the 11000 block of South Nogales Highway while responding Tuesday to a report of animal cruelty.

On Wednesday, deputies obtained a search warrant, which “allowed for the safe transport of both horses to a local rescue,” the news release said.
Two seized horses are “now receiving proper care and rehabilitation,” the Sheriff’s Department says.
