PHOENIX — Record warmth is impacting Arizona this week as high pressure builds in.
Phoenix tied the daily records on Sunday and Monday before setting a new record today as temperatures soared into the mid 80s.
As of 3 p.m., Sky Harbor has hit 86 degrees breaking the 1963 record of 85.
Overnight temperatures are also getting warmer, with much of the Valley only dipping into the 50s this week.
Winds are staying light in the Valley, but gusts are approaching 30 to 35 mph today along the I-40 corridor and along the Mogollon Rim.
The next storm system we’re tracking will pass to our north late Friday and Saturday, bringing cooler air and a very slight chance of a few spotty showers in northern Arizona.
Here in the Valley, conditions will stay dry as temperatures drop back into the mid 70s over the weekend. That means the forecast is looking fantastic this year for the Phoenix Open. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, light winds, no frost delays, and highs in the 70s.
