TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — Ohana Goats LLC is helping landowners across Montana and Arizona manage fire hazards, plant overgrowth, and invasive species with goat grazing.
According to Ohana Goats LLC, the animals graze on dry grasses, shrubs, and other combustible vegetation to help reduce the amount of fuel available for wildfires.
The company goes on to say that goats can graze on a variety of plants, preventing overgrowth that could otherwise lead to issues such as soil erosion, restricted water flow, and diminished agricultural productivity.
Goats also graze on invasive plants, such as knapweed, cheatgrass, leafy spurge, and thistles, helping to reduce their spread.
The company is based in Montana in the summer and Arizona in the winter.
