PHOENIX – A man and woman were found dead inside a Phoenix apartment and a toddler was also injured, the police department said on Sunday night.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road. It happened inside the Avilla Gateway apartment complex.

“When officers arrived, they entered an apartment and found a man and a woman deceased. There was also a toddler in the home who suffered an injury but was alert and crying. The child was taken to the hospital where the child is receiving treatment,” Phoenix Police said.

Police didn’t say how the toddler was injured.

No names have been released in this investigation.

Investigators are working to learn more about this incident.
