Phoenix broke the previous record by more than a degree, the National Weather Service said.
PHOENIX — Ask anyone in Phoenix about the summer of 2024 and they’ll all tell you the same thing: it was hot.
But did you know it was record-breaking hot?
This past summer was the hottest summer on record, breaking the previous record by more than a degree, according to the National Weather Service.
The previous hottest summers are:
- 2020 & 2017 (both tied for second place)
- 2014
- 2023
- 1989
The average temperature in Phoenix in 2024 was 78.6 degrees.
There were also 39 days when the record high was either set or tied in 2024 and 42 days when the record warm low temperature was set or tied in 2024.
