It was the second bullet found at the Phoenix home in a 24-hour window. The couple is deeply concerned the reckless behavior will continue.
PHOENIX — The new year is off to an unsettling start for a Phoenix couple who was horrified when a bullet came flying through their bedroom window in the middle of the night. They are okay but are concerned someone will get hurt if people continue to fire their guns into the air.

“I’m living something you only see on TV,” said John Park.
After ringing in the New Year, John Park and his fiancé were sitting together on their couch in the living room of their home near 23rd Avenue and Southern. Around 2:30 a.m., they heard a shocking sound.
“It was like a movie with the sound effect of the bullet piercing the window,” Park said.
They walked into their bedroom to find a bullet hole in their window, a ricochet mark on their wall, and a bullet lodged into their wall.
They immediately called Phoenix PD and told them this strangely was the second bullet they found on their property within 24 hours.
Earlier on New Year’s Eve, Park’s fiancé found one in their backyard.
“We think probably from the nights prior, someone was shooting their guns in the air and it came down,” Park said. “Two bullets on your property in less than 24 hours is alarming.”
Shannon’s Law is an Arizona law that makes it a felony to fire a gun into the air within a municipality. It came after a teenage girl lost her life in 1999.
Park and his fiancé can’t help but think about what could have happened to them had the bullet been just a few feet over or had they been in their bedroom when it struck.
“There’s just visions going through your head of like, hey, that could be right there. And who knows if that’s gonna happen again?” Park said.
Park is thankful they are okay but said this was much too close of a call. He hopes by sharing their story, the reckless behavior comes to an end.
“If we don’t bring it up, nothing’s going to change. And people will say, hey, I can keep firing my firearms in the air with zero consequence or zero repercussion,” Park said.
