35-Year-Old father of 5 struck by car, killed in brutal attack in Phoenix

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is searching for a suspect who fatally struck a man with a vehicle Friday evening in what investigators say was an intentional assault.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a call at 7:30 p.m. near 16th Street and Thomas Road, where they found 35-year-old Ethan Felix with serious injuries, and investigators later determined he had been intentionally hit by a car.

Brian Felix, Ethan’s father said he was told his son was having his breaks worked on in the parking lot of his apartment complex. 

 “I was told that he was hit by a vehicle, [got] caught between his vehicle and that other person’s vehicle,” Brian Felix said. “At which time he was being assaulted, stabbed and that consequently caused him to lose consciousness.”

Brian Felix said he doesn’t know of anyone who would want to hurt his son. 

“We’re going to celebrate 37 years of marriage this Tuesday, but we’re going to be at the medical examiner’s office, seeing our son and giving a report on what has happened to him,” Brian Felix said. 

Ethan’s older brother, Breon Felix, described him as someone who embodied the best qualities of their family. 

“This was just so devastating and it happened to someone who was genuine, loving and caring, very intelligent and giving,” Breon said. “He had all the best parts of me times 100.”

Ethan’s family said he leaves behind five children.  

“In the best times of their lives, they’re growing up. They needed their dad,” Brenda Felix said speaking about her grandchildren. “And he’s not going to be there for them.”

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the case as they and the Felix family ask for the public’s help.

“I want people to know that if they know who this person is, which I do believe they do by conversations I have had, to turn him in,” Felix said. “So the family can get justice, so we can rest a little bit easier at night and bring some peace to his children and parents. 

“Please do not let this person or persons get away with this,” Brenda Felix said.
