Police investigating deadly shooting in central Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man has died after a shooting in central Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department. 

The department told 12News that officers were called to the area of 8th Street and Montecito Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. on Friday due to a shooting.

That area is just northwest of the intersection of Seventh Street and Indian School Road and just west of Steele Indian School Park. 

Officers found a man who had been shot at the scene. That man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated and later died. 

Officers and detectives are still at the scene investigating the shooting and what led up to it. 

Police have not released the name of the man who was killed or any information about a possible suspect.
