Loop 303 closed for fatal pedestrian crash in west Valley

Surprise, Ariz. – DPS closed southbound Loop 303 for a crash that involved a pedestrian.

According to a report, a man was believed to be retrieving a ladder that fell off his vehicle when they were struck by a truck.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

The crash happened near the Peoria Road exit and the freeway was closed a few exits north, at Waddell Road.

Alternate routes include Cotton Lane and Sarival Road while investigators scour the scene collecting evidence and clearing the area.

The roadway is expected to be closed until around 4 p.m.
