Phoenix officer serving an order assaulted by family

PHOENIX — A police officer was taken to the emergency room after he was assaulted while serving an order of protection in south Phoenix, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Police Department said at around 8 p.m. Wednesday night officers went to a home in the area of Central and Southern avenues to serve the order.

Police said officers made contact with a woman who became aggressive with them. The officers attempted to arrest the woman when “other family members” began to attack the officers.

One of the officers was seriously injured during the assault, police said.

The officer was taken to the hospital for emergency care and is expected to be released soon.
