Pedestrian hit by multiple cars, killed on L-202 Red Mountain near Dobson Road

MESA, AZ — A portion of Loop 202 Red Mountain was shut down early Monday morning after a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the crash occurred near Country Club Drive after 6 a.m.

Investigators believe the pedestrian had stopped their vehicle in the area before being struck by a passing car. DPS says the pedestrian was then hit by multiple other vehicles.

The westbound lanes of the freeway were closed near Country Club Drive but have since reopened.
