Pima County Elections Department still counting ballots | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — As we approach a week since election day, the Pima County Elections Department is still in the middle of counting ballots.

A team of more than 80 people worked through the weekend and through Veterans Day to continue counting ballots.

Chorus Nylander speaks with Constance Hargrove, Pima County’s elections director.

The time frame is not unusual according to Pima County Communications Director Mark Evans.

“There has always been processing and counting that goes on after election day, I think it took us 10 days in 2022 and 13 days to finish in 2020 so this isn’t unusual,” Evans said.

Elections Director Constance Hargrove said her team has been averaging getting through 20,000 ballots per day.

Mark Evans speaks with News 4 Tucson about the latest election numbers in Pima County Arizona.

As of Monday, there were still around 68,000 ballots to get through.

Hargrove said she expects they can get through them all by the end of Wednesday.

“I was being very optimistic that it would be tomorrow but I believe we will go through Wednesday so by Wednesday we should have processed all the ballots we have in-house,” Hargrove said.

Hargrove said they expect to receive a batch of provisional ballots from the Pima County Recorder on Friday.
