Fueling the Future | Community

For the fifth year, SaddleBrooke, SaddleBrooke Ranch and Oracle volunteers are working together to provide much needed food over winter break for students at Mountain Vista School in Oracle. Fueling the Future began and is continuing as a grass roots effort to support students at Mountain Vista.

Many Mountain Vista students rely upon school breakfasts and lunches which are not available during the 15 days of winter break, and many may suffer from food insecurity. Fueling the Future has provided non-perishable and fresh food for over 75 students and families. Distribution is Thursday, December 19 which is the final day of school. Students who are members of the National Junior Honor Society work to sort, bag and distribute the food. We are proud of their efforts and willingness to assist others.

Beginning Friday, November 29 to Friday, December 13, you can donate non-perishable foods, cash or checks at the locations listed below. If making a contribution by check, please make it payable to: Oracle Community Center (a 501(c)3 organization)-your check is your receipt for tax donations. Cash and checks are used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.

Suggested donations: peanut butter/jelly, cereal, pasta/sauce, mac&cheese, dry rice, soups, applesauce, juice boxes/bottles, dessert mixes, boxed potatoes, canned fruit, cookies, canned vegetables, crackers, breakfast bars, canned beans, canned tuna, canned chicken, but all non-perishable foods are accepted.
