If you don’t want to wait until Election Day on Nov. 5 to cast your ballot but you prefer to do it in person rather than through the mail, you can vote at three new locations in the Tucson area starting this week.
Voters can cast a ballot between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 1 in the Santa Cruz Room on the third floor of the University of Arizona Student Union, at the Oro Valley Library, 1305 W. Naranja Dr., and the La Villita Community Center, 71 W. Sahuarita Rd., in the Sahuarita/Green Valley area.
Besides the presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, and Republican candidate Donald Trump, voters will pick candidates in races that include the contest for a U.S. Senate seat between U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego and former Phoenix newscaster Kari Lake, as well as campaigns for U.S. Congress, the Arizona Legislature, the Pima County Board of Supervisors and many others. On top of that, voters will decide 13 statewide propositions and local measures in suburban communities and school districts.
There are so many choices that election officials had to use a four-page, two-card ballot, with contests for election officials on the front page of the first card and the propositions on the back page of the first card and both the front and back pages of the second card.
Pima County Elections Director Constance Hargrove has urged voters to return both cards.
“If somebody returns only one card, that’s what we have to count for that voter,” Hargrove said.
Other early-voting locations that opened earlier this month include the Pima County Recorder’s Office branches at 240 N. Stone Ave. and 6550 S. Country Club Rd., which are open for voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can also cast a ballot between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 6700 E. Broadway.
Voters can drop off early ballots they have received through the mail at any of the above locations or at the recorder’s East Side office, 6920 E. Broadway, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. That location is closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
Additional early voting sites will open on Monday, Oct. 28. Find a full list here.
Emergency voting sites will be open on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Monday, Nov. 4.
Voters can still request an early ballot via mail by calling 520-724-4330 or visiting the Pima County Recorder’s Office website before Friday, Oct. 25.
Ballots must be in the custody of the Pima County Recorder’s Office by 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 or they will be disqualified, so voters are encouraged to mail their early ballots back by Oct 29.
After Oct. 29, voters are encouraged to drop off completed ballots at an early voting location or at one of Pima County’s voting centers on Election Day.
County election officials plan to open 126 vote centers across Pima County on Nov. 5. They anticipate high turnout and plan to expand the number of voting booths and related supplies.
